A holistic approach to speech therapy rooted in nervous system support

Supporting communication and cognitive recovery through science, heart, and healing

About

Sunshyne Darcy is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist with over 20 years of experience helping adults navigate complex communication and cognitive challenges. She holds a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola College of Maryland, and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Compentancy (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

What sets her practice apart is Sunshyne’s deep passion for the nervous system and how she integrates the foundations of relational neuroscience and applied neuroplasticity into her sessions. Mindfulness, nervous system regulation, interoception training, and somatic principles are interwoven throughout to nurture not only the individual client, but also their families and support systems. She provides comprehensive, evidence-based, compassionate care that honors both the science of communication and the human connection at the heart of it.

Throughout her career, Sunshyne has worked in both inpatient and outpatient medical and rehabilitation settings, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of adults with neurological and medically complex conditions. Her clinical focus includes stroke, traumatic brain injury, and progressive neurogenic diseases such as Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases. She provides individualized outpatient therapy to adults with a wide range of speech and language diagnoses, including aphasia, apraxia of speech, dysarthria, dysphagia (swallowing disorders), cognitive-linguistic deficits, mild cognitive impairment, and executive function disorders.
